The famed South Course at BallenIsles Country Club had its grand reopening on Sunday following eight months of renovations.

It showcases a complete tee-to-tee makeover, including new bunkers, design modifications that improve strategy and shot options, and the course is even lined with new trees.

The course architect, Rees Jones, who is known for renovating some of the most prestigious links in the nation, wanted to revitalize the 55-year old course.

"It was built at a time where they built all the greens elevated, all the tee's elevated, and now, we have the chance to build a more classic golf course and that's what we accomplished," said Jones at the grand reopening.

"The bunkers are scattered, the fairways have fill on them and contoured, there's various lengths of different holes, the greens are a little bit larger than they were. Every hole has a distinctive challenge so I think the members are going to really enjoy this on a timeless basis."
