 At BallenIsles Country Club, residents are very fortunate to enjoy a fabulous lifestyle behind the gates of a welcoming community. Members of this Palm Beach Gardens private club community not only have a shared awareness of their good fortune, but also a profound commitment to helping the less fortunate within their surrounding community. Founded to support residents’ charitable hearts, the BallenIsles Charities Foundation is one of BallenIsles’ largest and most influential foundations, rendering both financial and in-person support for nonprofit organizations within Palm Beach County.
History of the BallenIsles Charities Foundation
In 2011, a group of BallenIsles Members realized that they could work together to make a significant positive impact in the surrounding communities. Thus, the BallenIsles Charities Foundation was formed with the simple mission to make a difference in Palm Beach County. The Foundation works to provide financial and in-kind support to nonprofit and civic organizations for local programs that fall under their four pillars – Civic, Health & Human Services, Environment, and Education. In their first 11 years, the BallenIsles Charities Foundation has awarded over $5.7 million in donations and grants to 91 local organizations.
Making a Difference in Palm Beach County
Throughout the years, the Foundation has been fortunate to attract a growing number of both donors and volunteers, allowing the group to extend even more helping hands to Palm Beach County residents in need. For example, 2019 marked the year of their first impact grant, assisting in the purchase of a 40-foot refrigerated truck for one of the local pantries. This truck in a typical year will rescue well over one million pounds of food to be provided to locals experiencing food scarcity.
Even throughout the pandemic when times were hard for a growing number of families, the Foundation continued to step up in a big way. A $30,000 special impact grant was given to the PBG Police and Fire Rescue Foundation’s Emergency Financial Assistance Fun, helping first responders and their families. Additionally, during the summer of 2020, the BallenIsles Charities Foundation, BallenIsles Country Club, and the South Florida PGA provided 350 meals per week, for six weeks to healthcare providers working on the front lines of COVID-19 at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center.
The Future of the BallenIsles Charities Foundation is Bright
With a new season at BallenIsles Country Club on the horizon, the Foundation is already planning an exciting lineup of Community Service events, volunteer opportunities, and more to connect residents to the community at large. The Community Reception on December 8th at Skinny Palms is open to all BallenIsles residents, at no charge or solicitation, with food and drink, to learn more about the Foundation, speak with current members, and hear from previous grant recipients. Additionally, now that social distancing restrictions are relaxing, their community service initiatives are kicking into full gear, with volunteer opportunities available every month to support organizations such as the Special Olympics, Feed the Hungry Pantry, Habitat for Humanity, Jacob’s Shoes, and others.
