 Legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus once shared to play the game of golf well, golfers must be able to practice it well. A player must be able to practice the full array of shots they will experience on the course, as not every shot will be on a flat, teed-up surface. This concept has become a core belief at BallenIsles Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens, and a central component to their new golf practice grounds. With a comprehensive renovation on the East Course completed by the acclaimed Nicklaus Design team, all eyes are turning to the Club’s plans for the new BallenIsles Practice Grounds. This all-encompassing facility will allow Members to hit every shot they would experience on the course, with innovative technologies and resources to perfect their swing. Putting Greens for Every Shot Style
The BallenIsles Practice Grounds will soon provide Members with an exhilarating golf experience, starting with a 25,000-square-foot Snead Green putting course that enables players of all skill levels to put a club in their hand and start golfing. The multi-functional chipping and pitching facility will help hone short-game skills, with five greens and a pitching course for competitions. 20 other practice greens between the short and long game areas mimic all the elements Members will find all three championship golf courses, from the world’s flattest putting green and target greens to fairway bunkers, rough areas, and uneven lies. The long game area will also feature a nine-hole short course incorporated within the target greens.
New Driving Ranges
Another priority for BallenIsles was to create a space where learning golf was easy, fun, and creative. Similar to the Top Golf craze that’s leading a resurgence of the golf industry, the driving ranges will give beginners and professionals alike a place to practice their swing in a fun, lively atmosphere. 65 natural grass and 56 turf hitting bays feature Toptracer technology, and Flagd Digital GPG yardage boards indicating yardages to targets ranging from 30 to 105 yards. Members will now be able to have data-driven practice sessions, and even compete against fellow Members from an app on their mobile devices.
Innovative Golf Learning Center Coming Soon
On the North end of the practice grounds, construction is also now underway for a new 3,000-square-foot ‘71 Golf Learning Center (‘71 being the address and paying homage to Nicklaus’ PGA win at BallenIsles in 1971). With an anticipated opening date in April 2023, BallenIsles Members are looking forward to enjoying custom fittings, club repairs, and golf instruction all from one central location. Inside the BallenIsles Demo and Fitting suite, a full team of experts is on hand to assist Members in finding a set of golf clubs that perfectly match their swing. After finding their clubs, two indoor and two covered outdoor practice and learning bays will help perfect any swing, with state-of-the-art Trackman technology. The center will also have retail space and a dedicated club repair area.
BallenIsles Continuously Evolves the Member Experience
The renovation to the East Course and its practice facilities are just one example of how BallenIsles continues to provide a superior Member experience.
