Consistently securing a spot among America’s Top 100 Golf Clubs and adorned with numerous Best of Palm Beach accolades, BallenIsles Country Club boasts an impressive collection of distinctions. Yet the trophy case for this private Palm Beach Gardens Club only continues to grow. BallenIsles was recently named the “Best Clubhouse” in Club + Resort Businesses’ 2023 list of Top Ranked Clubhouses. Renovated in 2018, the 115,000-square-foot Clubhouse social centerpiece of the community, with lounging spaces and dining options for every interest. Let's delve deeper into the features that set it apart from the competition.

Ryan Walls, General Manager and CEO at BallenIsles, is honored that Club + Resort Business chose BallenIsles for the number one spot. “This recognition is a complement to our Members, board, professional planners and staff who work together to create a classy, yet comfortable space to enjoy,” shared Walls. “A lot has gone into learning the wants and needs of our Members, offering a little something for all across our diverse Membership.”

A Grand Clubhouse for Every Interest
As the social centerpiece of the BallenIsles community, the Clubhouse made its debut in 1997. Since then, it has undergone numerous renovations, with the most significant being the $35 million overhaul in November 2018. The 115,000-square-foot space features ample welcoming spaces for Members to gather. Recognizing the importance of card games in the BallenIsles lifestyle, the expanded clubhouse boats five card rooms – three designated for ladies and two for men – in addition to a dedicated men’s lounge area. A multipurpose room and three meeting rooms host various special-interest clubs, including gatherings for book lovers, socialites, creatives, car enthusiasts, collectors, and more. For golf enthusiasts, a full-service golf pro shop caters to every need, with a comprehensive selection of apparel, shoes, bags, clubs, and balls. The Clubhouse also offers custom club fittings and club repairs, ensuring Members’ equipment is always in optimal condition.

“The philosophy of our Clubhouse is that it has to be fun and centered around socialization,” shared Walls. “This is the heart and soul of our Club. From our various dining venues to spending time with friends playing cards or bocce to joining others during happy hour at one of our engaging social locations, our goal is to be forward-thinking. We like to keep Members on their toes with fresh ideas and make sure it is fun, all centered around socializing.”

Award-Winning Dining Venues
The Clubhouse is also home to four of BallenIsles’ six dining venues. Circle 100 offers classic American favorites coupled with select regional cuisines in a bountiful lunch or dinner buffet. With over 20 T.V.’s, the BallenIsles Grille (also called The B.I.G.) is the best spot to watch the latest sports game, with casual bites including burgers, salads, pizzas, ribs, and more. Harry’s Lounge celebrates the Club’s storied history with light bites, handcrafted cocktails, and unique desserts. Evolution is a departure from traditional fine dining, offering a series of social programming that won the #1 Food Programming Golf Inc. Magazine’s prestigious Golden Fork Award. The Small Plates event features handcrafted flavors by renowned chefs, while Monthly Wine Cellar Dinners offer wine flights paired with five-course dinners from coveted wineries.

About Club + Resort Business
Club + Resort Business is a highly esteemed magazine dedicated to offering valuable ideas and innovative solutions for the challenges faced by operations and management staff in club-like settings. The magazine annually showcases the nation's best in country clubs, semi-private/daily fee clubs, yacht clubs, and resorts with club-like facilities through their "Top Ranked" lists. In the Clubhouse category, properties nationwide submitted entries for independent evaluation by a panel of industry professionals. The rankings reflect the judges' assessments of Clubhouse usability, considering factors such as square footage, event and seating capacity, pro shop size, availability of outdoor dining, and more.

“Our Club has a unique and rich history that is well narrated throughout our building,” Walls explained. “It blends today’s modern demands of a high-end, high-volume private club with a showcase of our Members’ talents. Whether telling our background and relationship to major championship golf, our Chicago connections, famous regulars, connection to the PGA, Members’ art and photography, or our connection to the Golden Bear himself, the Clubhouse connects the present to the past. It evokes the pride in our Club and our excitement to continue that forward.”
